DAY 1: Nyabitaba camp 2650m
From Nyakalengija the starting point, you shall hike for 3 to 4 hours through a thick tropical forest and climb up a step ridge with fields of ferns up to the camp. The camp is located in a dense forested canopy mixed up with podocurlpus trees. View variety of bird species, black and white colabus monkeys, blue monkeys, butterflies, and many others. Duikers and mountain elephants can be seen by chance.
DAY 2: John mate camp 3380m
From Nyabitaba to John Matte is a 6 to 7hr walk. The trail takes you through the bamboo, heather with moss forest up to alpine zone of the giant lobelias and the ground sel camp surrounded by heather trees. The heather trees makes its own zone however you will find other species of trees like the St. Johns wart, rapanea other plants like the giant lobelia will be found in this zone. Animals like the rocky hyrax can be spotted or heard at night and foot prints of mountain leopards can be spotted as well dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: Bujuku camp 3977m
Bujuku camp located beneath/foot of the heart of mountain Stanley, Mt.Baker, Mt. Speke and the camp is a place you will have a breath taking view of the glaciers and Lake Bujuku at a close range. This hike will take 4 to 5 hours. Bujuku is preferred as a resting place for most peak climbers for acclimatization from here you can ably climb mountain Speke and back at the same day.
DAY 4: Elena camp 4541m
Elena camp is established at the snow line as the starting point of the main high peaks of Margherita 5109m and Alexandra both twin peaks on Mt. Stanley on this day, ensure to be able to reach the main peaks. This walk will take 3-4 hours to kitandara.
DAY 5: Kitandara lakes camp 4027m
From Elena is 2 to 4 hours to kitandara lakes camp well as from bujuku to kitandara is 5 to 7 hours. The camp is surrounded with scencio / ground shell trees, lobelias, St. Johns wart. While at the camp you will be able to see the two beautiful upper and lower kitandara lakes. Have a nice view of the Elena glaciers from this camp. This will take 6 to 7 hours as the Guy yeoman Camp.
DAY 6: Guy yeoman 3450m
An early morning bursting climb lead you to the fresh field pass at 4280m to have a view of the Edward glaciers on Mt. Baker, Luigi du savoa, lakes of Kitandara. Guy Yeoman is located within the scenic valley of river Mubuku, Bujongolo, Kendahi rock shelters of the duke of Abruzzi and Kabamba waterfalls are part of the amazing attraction you will enjoy as you descend to this camp. This will take 4-5 hours to descend to Nyabitaba.
Day 7: Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija
From Guy yeoman camp is about 4 to 5 hours descend through the Bamboo Zones to proceed your second glimpse of Nyabitaba to have a night or just a brief cup of coffee and there after onward to Nakalengiya for another 3 to 4 hours descend to finish your mountain trek.
